The Obsession...

I am a collector. A collector of objects and beauty. A collector of items which smell and taste and feel of soulful pasts. To this end I am an avid collector of antique and vintage iconic religious items.

It is these items that have borne the obsession to share their beauty here with you. They are so deeply soulful and sing to me wrapped in their multitude of age stained colors, tarnished metals and brittle pages.

Although images of other obsessed collections will also find a place scattered throughout the pages here the main focus will be these items which hold the closest place to my heart.

This is not a blog about God or the Church although I am very much a believer in God and count myself highly spiritual and a Christian. This is a blog about the beautiful creations that have come to represent God, the Church and Christianity. It is a blog about the need to touch and look closely at someone's interpretation of written words and their beliefs.

When thinking of what I could name this space I determined that I liked the following explanation of one of my favorite items to collect....the antique rosary...

"The smaller rosary beads are called Ave beads. There are three directly above the first Pater bead. There are 50 in the ring of the rosary. These are grouped into decades. On this bead, you say the Hail Mary prayer. These beads serve as a reminder of the tears of Mary and her willingness to do God's will."

I hope that you will decide to follow this site and that you will visit often to enjoy the visual stories of my obsessed collections.

  1. I too love religious art and icons. And I'm not Catholic, but love the sentiment of these beautiful things.
